'''Wario''' (Japanese: ワリオ, ''Wario'') is a recurring character in the ''Mario'' series. He is an obese, muscular, hot-tempered, and greedy man, and [[Mario]]'s yellow-and-purple clad arch-rival. He usually appears as an antagonist, or in some cases an anti-hero. His name is a combination of Mario's name and the Japanese word ''warui'' (悪い), meaning "bad". It is also "Mario" but with the "M" upside down indicating that he's the opposite of Mario.
Wario's greed pushes him to commit malevolent acts, such as the seizing of [[Mario's Castle]]. Wario has also proven to be very cunning as he has tricked [[Mario]] on many occasions. He often goes out on his own adventures, from stealing treasure to running a [[WarioWare, Inc. (company)|microgame making company]]. Wario has helped heroes of the [[Mushroom Kingdom]] on a few separate occasions as well. Although Wario is usually depicted as a bad guy, he usually ends up saving the day in the end.

Wario has been in the [[Mario Party (series)|''Mario Party'' series]] since the first game and has played a large role in the series, except for ''[[Mario Party Advance]]''. He has his own level in ''[[Mario Party]]'' which stands as one of its hardest. Wario's color is purple, and in ''Mario Parties'' 1-4 his sleeves are long, but in the rest, they are short. Wario is Mario's rival. You probably guessed that already, considering there names are just a letter apart. He is a bit fatter than Mario, and he dressed in the same style. He wears green slippers and dons purple overalls with two silver buttons on them. Unlike his body, his arms are in shape, and his muscles can be seen underneath his yellow shirt. He has a pair of white gloves, both of them having a purple W on them. He has a black eyebrows and a mustache, which is curves a lot. He has a large pink nose and pointy ears, and like Mario, his hair is brown (yet is mustache is black. Doesn't make that much sense, but whatever). His slits around his eyes are a light blue, and he has a yellow cap with his initial (W) on it in purple. Basically, he is the bad version of Mario. He also was the star of ''Wario Ware'' and ''Wario Land''. In his early ''Mario'' appearances, he wore a long-sleeved shirt, but in future ''Mario'' games, he wore a short-sleeved shirt.
