Chairs,[1] also known as Killer Chairs[citation needed] or Flying Chairs[citation needed] are sentient chair enemies found in Super Mario 64 and its remake, Super Mario 64 DS, in the course Big Boo's Haunt. They are wooden chairs, made sentient through unknown means.
There are only two chairs in the game, and they can be found in only one room: the second door on the left, when Mario (or Luigi or Wario in the remake) enters the mansion from the front. When Mario, Luigi or Wario enters the room and approaches one of the chairs, the chair rises into the air and rapidly rotates, before then hurling itself at the character. The chair will continue flying in its projected direction until it hits the floor or a wall, at which point it will disappear. If it collides with Mario, Luigi, or Wario, he will lose two wedges of his Power Meter. Unlike with biting Bookends, jumping into chairs does not destroy them and instead hurts the character.
