|align=left | Shovel Knight is the protagonist of his {{wp|Shovel Knight|eponymous game}}, and also the first indie game character to appear in physical form and as an Assist Trophy in the ''Super Smash Bros.'' series. AAs valorous knight who, as thehis name implies, he fights armed with a shovel, heand treks across the land in order to save his beloved, the Shield Knight, from the evil Enchantress and her Order of No Quarter.

HeShovel Knight uses similar moves from the original game, digging rocks out of the ground with his shovel and aiming it downward while in mid-air to bounce on opponents, damaging them. Occasionally when digging, an item appears out of the ground.<ref name=SSBUDirect/>
