Beehives technically first appearedappear in ''[[Donkey Kong 3]]'', where the titular ape proceededproceeds to knock on them to dispatch the bugs in greenhouses (either with his fists, as wasis the case in the [[Blue Greenhouse|Blue]] and [[Gray Greenhouse]]s, or via coconuts, in the case of the [[Yellow Greenhouse]]). In the Yellow Greenhouse, [[Stanley (Donkey Kong 3)|Stanley]] also forcedforces Donkey Kong into a beehive at the top, which then fellfalls onto his head. In the Arcade version, Donkey Kong, upon the beehive falling onto his head, then twitchedtwitches and scrambledscrambles to get the beehive off, only to fall down to the ground, with the beehive then splitting open and revealing that Donkey Kong's face wasis partially swollen, with his right eye being puffy (heavily implying that Donkey Kong had been stung by the beehive's occupants).
