The player has to break 10 targets. When the stage is played as a part of Single-Player Mode (in Super Smash Bros.) or Classic Mode (in Super Smash Bros. Melee), there is a time limit of 2 minutes. When the stage is selected separately (Target Test), there is no given time limit.

(under the name of Target Smash!) will act the same way, but this time, the stages are set outdoors, allowing for a better scenery. Additionally, Items can be found this time, allowing players to smash Targets with increased ease. Another interesting add-on, is that players can now replay records of Break the Targets!, something that was not in the previous two games. One can even send a game record to another person via Wi-Fi Connection.
