Kid Icarus is a series of action-adventure games created by Nintendo and themed around Greek mythology. Consisting of three games, Kid Icarus was a dormant franchise for many years until Masahiro Sakurai of Super Smash Bros. fame redesigned and incorporated many of its elements in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Kid Icarus: Uprising, the latter of which features many Nintendo in-jokes and references. As such, not only has Kid Icarus has crossed over with the Mario franchise in the Smash games, but it has freely referenced Mario, Smash and combinations thereof in its own games (particularly Uprising).
