Conker is a video game franchise created by Rare Ltd. which primarily consists of platforming titles, similar to the Banjo-Kazooie franchise. Its main protagonist is a red squirrel named Conker. Conker is often paired with the Banjo-Kazooie franchise. Like Banjo, Conker made his debut in Diddy Kong Racing. This helped familiarize players to both Conker and Banjo before they debuted in their respective franchise.

Like Banjo-Kazooie, Conker is not a spinoff of the Donkey Kong franchise. Conker was to have his first starring role in the Nintendo 64 game Conker's Quest, which was first unveiled at E3 1997 alongside Diddy Kong Racing and Banjo-Kazooie. A bit later, the game was renamed Twelve Tales: Conker 64 and presented at E3 1998. It was privately canceled and redone as a Mature-rated title, Conker's Bad Fur Day, which released in 2001. As such, Conker's Pocket Tales, a dual-compatible Game Boy Color title that was to accompany Twelve Tales: Conker 64, became the first Conker title when it released in 1999.

On September 24, 2002, Microsoft completed their acquisition of Rare Ltd. for $375 million. Since then, both Conker and Banjo-Kazooie have become Microsoft-owned properties while Donkey Kong remained a Nintendo franchise.
