Depending on which princess [[Kirby]] saved at the beginning of the <i>Subspace Emissary</i> story, false forms of [[Zelda|Princess Zelda]] or [[Princess Peach]] will attempt to shoot [[Mario]]/[[Pit]] if Peach is saved, or [[Link]]/[[Yoshi]] if Zelda is saved; however, the other team (Mario/Pit if Zelda is saved, Link/Yoshi if Peach is saved) will destroy the cannon before it completely fires. The Dark Cannon blows up, starting a battle between the fake Peach/Zelda (who attempted to fire the cannon) and the team that destroyed it.

Much later, when all characters go to [[Subspace (SSB)|Subspace]], Ganondorf uses the last Dark Cannon available to shoot Bowser. He then kicks Bowser away.
