The Modern mode of ''Helmet'' also features three different areas ([[Toad]] invites the player to a different area after 500 and 1,000 points). The first area is a grassy plain that features a [[Koopa Paratroopa|Para Troopa]] tossing [[hammer]]s, [[Spike Ball|Spiked Ball]]s, and [[Lava Bubble|Podoboo]]s at the player. The next area is a meadow that features a [[Fly Guy]] dropping Spiked Balls. [[Cannon]]s will constantly appear to make any Spiked Balls that fall into them drop faster or get fired off in 45-degree angles. The last area is a castle of sorts with three Podoboos bouncing up and down and two [[Thwomp]]s. The Thwomps will eventually fly up towards the ceiling (which has [[Spike Trap|spikes]] hanging from it) if the player is standing on either one for a few seconds. If the player never moves when this happens, that player will get squished into the ceiling and penalized with a miss. At 200 and 500 points, the Para Troopa will toss a [[1 UP Heart|heart]] for the player to remove a miss; at 700 points, the Fly Guy will drop a heart.
