Kackle (also known as Resident Demon) is an undead Kremling who lived in the time of the Kremling Kuthroats during his lifetime. He first appear in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.
Kackles are ghostly, skeletal Kremling enemies in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, in which they appear in only one level, Haunted Hall. Like Kloaks, Kackles do not have legs, and instead hover in midair as a way to move around. Each Kackle wears an eyepatch and a bandanna, most frequently depicted as blue.
Characteristics
Kackle's living appearance is unknown, but he is visible only as a yellowed skeleton of a Kritter, missing white teeth and red eyes. His outfit is a blue/green/yellow/red bandana with white polka dots, an eye patch with a human Jolly Roger on the left side, black bracelets, a dark brown belt with a gold buckle and a dangling sword.

In Haunted Hall, there are four Kackles, and each of them are encountered within a section that Diddy and Dixie enter through a gate and exit through the next one. Each Kackle has a uniquely colored bandanna: the first one wears a blue bandana, the second one wears a green bandana, the third one wears a yellow bandana, and the fourth one wears a red bandana. The first two are encountered before the Star Barrel while the other two are encountered afterward. None of the Kackles can be defeated.

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's' Kong Questfranchise
When Diddy and Dixie enter a section with a Kackle, a timer appears at the top of the screen, and the Kongs have to quickly exit the zone before time runs out. As the timer ticks down, the Kackle inches closer to the Kongs. If time runs out, the Kackle becomes tangible and touches the active Kong, damaging them. Nearly every Kackle area takes longer to pass through than the initial amount of time given, so as a workaround, Diddy and Dixie must touch any Plus Barrel along the way to increment the timer. At the same time, the Kongs must avoid touching any Minus Barrel, as this decreases the timer.
In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest where Diddy Kong & Dixie Kong enter from his house in Haunted Hall, Kackle begins his attack against them preparing a timer and contains the Plus and Minus Barrels that one increases the time and the other decreases it. If time runs out, Kackle captures.

In Donkey Kong 64 as Resident Demon, Kackle has a ghost train in the Creepy Castle catacombs. He will try to physically attack Donkey Kong with his claws and summon flame skulls.
The first Kackle area contains mostly Plus Barrels and a few Minus Barrels. The second Kackle area only contains Plus Barrels. The third Kackle area only contains Minus Barrels, but the timer is longer than in the other sections to compensate for the lack of Plus Barrels. The fourth and final Kackle area has Plus Barrels and Minus Barrels often placed near each other, requiring the Kongs to time their jumps to avoid touching a Minus Barrel.

Donkey Kong Country 2 (Game Boy Advance)
In Donkey Kong Country 2 for the Game Boy Advance, Kackles have received a few changes. Every Kackle instead wears blue bandanna like the first one, and their distance while following the Kongs is also kept consistent.

Trivia
*KacklesKackle areis one of the few enemies to not return in Donkey Kong Land 2, mainly because the game features a standard rollercoaster level, Krazy Koaster, instead of its own variation of Haunted Hall.
*In Donkey Kong 64, a demon resembling a giant skeletal Kremling appears to pursue Donkey Kong in a Mine Cart segment, similar to Kackle.
*According to Steve Mayles, Mr. X is an earlier version of Kackle.<ref>"He was replaced with the giant skeleton that chases you on the fairground level" Mayles, Steve (June 3, 2015), Reddit AMA with the developers of Yooka-Laylee, Reddit.
