'''[[smashwiki:Topi|Topi]]s''' are small, round creatures with white fur coats. They normally inhabit arctic climates. Topis are common enemies of the [[Ice Climber]]s (first debuting in the Ice Climbers' eponymous debut game ''Ice Climber''). They also appear as an enemy in the stage [[Icicle Mountain]] in Adventure Mode.

In the Japanese version of ''Super Smash Bros. Melee'', Topis are small seals rather than the yeti-like creature seen in Western versions. The reason for this strange change is actually based on the enemy's original appearance in the NES version of ''Ice Climber''; although Topis originated in the Japanese version of their first appearance as the small seals Japanese gamers are familiar with, issues regarding animal cruelty eventually changed them to more "fictional" creatures for English versions of both ''Ice Climber'' and ''Super Smash Bros. Melee''. It should be notedHowever, however, that the special [[Famicom Disk System]] edition of ''Ice Climber'', only released in Japan, has the overseas design.

Topis also appear as enemies that Popo has to pound with his hammer in the ''[[WarioWare: Twisted!]]'' [[microgame]] [[Ice Climber (WarioWare: Twisted!)|Ice Climber]]. Like in ''Super Smash Bros. Melee'', their appearance differs between English and Japanese versions. They are also seen in [[8-Bit Hero]], a microgame in ''[[WarioWare: Touched!]]''. When the player succeeds on the microgame's third level, a scene from ''Ice Climber'' appears. In this case, Topis are seals in all releases of the game.
