A '''Pitfall''' is an item that will appear in the upcoming ''[[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]'', bearing the same appearance as it had in the ''Animal Crossing'' series, from which the item originated. Pitfalls are white balls with a single red exclamation mark on them. They will be used in a similar manner as they are in the ''Animal Crossing'' games; once a pitfall is thrown on the ground, it will be buried. If a player walks over the spot in which the pitfall is hidden, a pit will open up under them and they will fall in. (Hence the item's title.) While in the hole, they will be stunned and open to attack. |

Trivia
- Interestingly, the Pitfall looks a lot like a Surprise Ball from the Yoshi series, although the colors are reversed.
