When the player tilts the Control Stick very quickly and presses the A Button at the same time, he or she will use a very powerful attack that can cause massive damage to opponents. If they player holds the A Button, they will charge up the attack, making the Smash Attack even more powerful (although this has only been available in Super Smash Bros. Melee thus far). Smash Attacks are the most powerful attacks that any character can use. The side Smash is usually the strongest Smash Attack for a character.
