They are similar to [[FireVenus PiranhaFire PlantTrap]]s, but spit [[Ice Ball]]s instead of [[Fireball]]s. Unlike [[Frost Piranha]]s, another ice-based Piranha Plant sub-species, Venus Ice Traps bear a red coloration.

Venus Ice Traps make their first appearance in ''New Super Mario Bros. U''. They look and act similar to FireVenus PiranhaFire PlantsTrap, but shoot Ice Balls, which are capable of freezing playable [[List of characters|characters]] as well as other [[List of enemies|enemies]]. They inhabit the world of [[Rock-Candy Mines]], where three of them appear in the level [[Fuzzy Clifftop]], with two in a [[Warp Pipe]] and one on the ceiling. Just like FireVenus PiranhaFire PlantsTraps, [[Yoshi]] can eat Ice Balls and spit them at other enemies.
