A Bumper is a shield-like item in Super Smash Bros. It remained on the ground when thrown, damaging players who bumped into it, hence then name Bumper. There was also a bumper floating above the Peach's Castle stage. For unknown reasons, the Flipper, which is just like the Bumper, took its place in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

The Bumper will return in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
