Fire Emblem is a tactical RPG series created by Nintendo and its subsidiary Intelligent Systems. Originally exclusive to Japan, the franchise was introduced to international players via Super Smash Bros. Melee, and has grown more and more successful over time. The Fire Emblem series and Mario franchise have notably crossed over in the Super Smash Bros. games; outside of this, the Mario series has made very minimal references to Fire Emblem, most notably in Intelligent Systems' own Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
