The Flipbugs (also called Flying Mandibugs) are enemies found in Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel, Super Mario Galaxy 2. They are small, winged mosquito-like creatures with Mandibug-style faces that appear mostly in the Honeyhive Galaxy and Gold Leaf Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy, and the Yoshi Star Galaxy, the Puzzle Plank Galaxy, and the Honeyhop Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy 2. When the player approaches one of these creatures as Mario, the insect will make a frantic attempt to flee from him, and will then fall onto its back in fear, making it vulnerable to attack. If Mario touches one while they fly away from him, he will remain unharmed, and could even spin them if so desired. So this is all they do? What kind of enemy is this?! But wait! However, if the player approaches one as Bee Mario, they will unfold their wings and slowly hover after him. It is unknown why they do this, but it should be noted that they appear to be visibly angry when they hover after him so this could mean that Flipbugs have a strong dislike of bees. If they touch Mario while he is using the Bee Mushroom, he will take damage. This will cause the Bee Suit to disappear, and the insects will then begin to flee from regular Mario once again.
