Franklin Badge
Franklin Badge is an item in the Earthbound/Mother series, and an item in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In the Earthbound series, it could deflect electric based attacks back at the enemy, but, its effects will be slightly altered in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In Brawl, once it is collected, it will automatically cling to the player that picked it up. The player will wear it like a normal badge. If a projectile is shot or thrown at a player wearing the Franklin Badge, it will automatically be deflected right back at them. The badge is very small, and someone doesn't spot it on another player, they will be in for a big suprise. However, the effects will wear off after a while, but, it will be hard to spot it disappearing as well. The apperance of this item hints that Ness may be playable in Brawl.

- The Franklin Badge is named after one of America's founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin, who discovered the power of electricity.
- The badge has a background picture of the northern hemisphere on it, as well as a large picture that says Earthbound's Japanese name, Mother.
