The Jumping Piranha Plant (P-Pakkun in Japan) is a type of Piranha Plant that is not rooted to the ground.
The Jumping Piranha Plant is a variant of Piranha Plant that is not rooted to the ground. They have a propeller-like stem, and their usual action is to jump out of a Warp Pipe before slowly making their way back down into it. Jumping Piranha Plants first appear in Super Mario World.

Jumping Piranha Plants have a few variants, most notably Jumping Venus Fire Traps, which are a cross between a Jumping Piranha Plant and a Venus Fire Trap. Jumping Piranha Plant has two relatives, Hootie the Blue Fish from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Piranha Pests from Yoshi's Story, and both of them bear a resemblance to it.

Jumping Piranha Plants made their debut in Super Mario World as the most frequent Piranha Plant enemies in the game. They wait in their pipes and when the player goes close to the pipe, they jump out of the pipe or bushes. In some cases, they also spit two fireballs, which may shows the relation to the Venus Fire Trap from Super Mario Bros. 3. These Jumping Piranha Plants are called Jumping Venus Fire Traps.
In Super Mario World, Jumping Piranha Plants are the most frequently encountered Piranha Plant enemies. Most of them jump in and out of a pipe, but some jump out from the bushes. Jumping Venus Fire Traps also make an appearance, acting mostly the same, aside from spitting out two fireballs whenever they jump up. If Mario or Luigi do a Spin Jump on a Jumping Piranha Plant, they bounce slightly upward and do not take damage. Either brother can defeat a Jumping Piranha Plant by plucking a fireball at it while in their Fire form or by touching it while under the effects of a Starman.

Like the other enemies, a Jumping Piranha Plant appears in the ending sequence, which misspells their name as Jumping Pirhana Plant, although this would eventually be fixed in the Game Boy Advance remake Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2.

After the Special World has been completed, Jumping Piranha Plants turn into Jumping Pumpkin Plants.

Jumping Piranha Plants return in Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3, the GBA remake of Super Mario Bros. 3 (which is the prequel Super Mario World). They only appear in World-e's e-Reader accessible level, Dig! Dig! Dig Through!!. The Jumping Piranha Plants behave exactly similar to that of Super Mario World, though their appearance is pretty much identical to Super Mario Bros. 3 's original Piranha Plant species, save for their propeller-like leaf.
In Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3, Jumping Piranha Plants only appear in a World-e level, Ground Work. They behave the same way as in Super Mario World, but they are designed after the Piranha Plants in the same game, having the same head while retaining their propeller-like leaf.

In Super Mario Party, the 21st stage of Puzzle Hustle involves the characters having to put together a picture of a Jumping Piranha Plant, which the game refers to as a Piranha Plant. It is depicted as an enlargement of its Super Mario World sprite.

Trivia
*Jumping Piranha Plants appear only in Super Mario World, although the Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island enemy Hootie the Blue Fish bears resemblance to them. Piranha Pests from Yoshi's Story also share a resemblance to it.
