In the episode, several Gophers acted as minions of [[Larry Koopa|Cheatsy Koopa]], aiding him in his plot to steal all the crops grown by the cave-people of [[Dome City]]. The Gophers helped Cheatsy by stealing the crops and replacing them with [[Piranha Plant]]s. Once [[Mario]], [[Luigi]], and [[Yoshi]] discover the crops have been stolen in the following morning, Cheatsy and the Gophers use the Piranha Plants to attack Mario and the gang. However, Yoshi manages to eat the Piranha Plants. When Yoshi is about to eat the last Piranha Plant, one of the Gophers attempted to save the Piranha Plant along with Cheatsy and the other Gophers shortly after. However, Yoshi pulls the stem of the now eaten Piranha Plant out of the ground, causing the Gophers and Cheatsy to be pulled out of the ground and be exposed. Cheatsy and the Gophers then sing a self praising song called ''[[Cheatsy's Life]]'', with the Gophers singing backup on how Cheatsy's Life is a lot of fun when there is underhanded evil to be done (making it one of the very few pieces of official ''Mario'' media to have Monty Moles being fully voice acted). However, Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi secretly snuck into Cheatsy's lair and proceed to kidnap the Gophers one by one while they are singing, tying them up and suspending them onto the ceiling. After Cheatsy finishes singing, Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi then drop the suspended Gophers onto Cheatsy which crushes him. Mario and his friends then proceed to take the crops back to [[Dome City]], before Cheatsy makes a remark on how much he hates those plumbers.
