Welcome to the wiki, hope you like it here! I actually didn't create it (it's HannahMontanaFan who did), but I founded all of the affiliates in the side-section. Sure, though I need to get breakfast. I'll be back in perhaps a few hours or so, if that helps (I need to do morning chores as well). To give further context to this place, I decided on the name "Mariopedia" and bought the domain, styled the site & did the background graphic, as I could tell the actual founder (HMfan) was trying to create a Mario wiki based on the earlier days of the main one Bawitdaba (talk) 13:06, September 5, 2022 (UTC)

A PipeProject

The abandoned feature from MarioWiki -- PipeProjects -- I repurposed for here. I made one at PipeProject:Monty Moles, as I can tell we have several ideas on articles for Monty Moles and their relatives & could be best to organize the ideas. Bawitdaba (talk) 13:39, September 5, 2022 (UTC)

Yeah I am good wit doing that when I get more time today. And PipeProjects -- I think could think of them as like class projects. In this case the Monty Mole-related subjects & improving upon their articles, and once satisfactory, the goals can be marked as completed and eventually the PipeProject itself (although the thing with wikis is the work is neverending but this is more about getting the Monty Mole-related articles up to speed). Also, should the Chubby page be deleted since it was basically only just a very minor Monty Mole very briefly mentioned in the Mario Kart 64 instruction booklet and nowhere else? It was a certain section that I got most of my scans from that went private. Also I am nearly done with making the pages (besides the enlarged Monty Moles). No that wasn’t it, in fact I did not know that archive existed until you told me. I tried downloading it but it was too big so mind checking volumes 24, 33, and 34 to see if they have any Monty Mole species since those were the only volumes I did not check? It's just an overwhelming amount of tasks, if that makes sense, and we weren't able to complete it all in one day, so it's better if it's sorted as a bullet list (hence reason I did the PipeProject & looks like it was a good idea to revive the feature over here). Know what I mean? Also, I'll take your word for the Mario Portal thing, but I still think that at least some English names, such as Moofish, are better than nothing. Worn a bit thin

I think I'm going to take a break from editing Monty/Rocky Wrench species-related pages (perhaps aside from List of appearances) because I'm worn thin from all that hard work at porting over all this Monty-related stuff over the past 2 or so days & altering it for the wiki. @Bawitdaba: Yeah I understand, it is fine to take a break (sometimes I get tired to and take a small break from editing). It can be stressful sometimes and I understand. So after the list of appearances stuff you will take the break right, and after your break will you still help with the pages, just curious? I can still help edit the pages for you so that is fine. Seeing as you love Monty Moles so much, you could go to Meta and request starting a wiki specifically on Monty Moles. It could have theories, stuff on your Monty Mole iceberg, etc. Does this idea sound good? I added the two sprites of Monty and Rocky respectively above though? The same reference can be used twice by giving it a name. Here's an example:

First use: <ref name="example1">Example</ref>

Second, third, etc. uses: <ref name="example1"/>

Just call the Flower Fields ones "Monty Moles" and use context when writing about them (e.g. refer to them in the text as "the Flower Fields-specific Monty Moles"). Bawitdaba (talk) 00:18, September 21, 2022 (UTC)

Subspecies

@Bawitdaba Appearances of wrenches in the various games they appeared in (with most of them being Rocky Wrench appearances as well). You could also note notable wrench behaviors like them being able to be jumped on in 3D Land for example. You don’t have to do the manga yet, at least like the games but you can do the manga if you want with the info from the Rocky Wrench page. Because there's shared enemy families between the Mario and Zelda franchises, among other similarities. I did discuss this before on HMfan's talk page. I do get why some may see it as a bit of a stretch, but Mario & Zelda have shared common developers, and there's enemy families (like with Thwomps having variants and relatives in Zelda: Link's Awakening) that carry over between the two franchises. Manhandlas have been literally stated to be giant Piranha Plants as well.

Now if it was different developers (like Spinies appear in Kirby, which not made by same team as Mario and Zelda), then that's another story. There's several other things. Banjo & Conker are related through the DK franchise because Banjo & Conker happened to make their debut in Diddy Kong Racing. See the Scope page for a bit more info. So yeah, I like to be one pushing the line (helps the wiki stand out with this little quirk), but I have said that Zelda is "related," i.e. not a part of Mario franchise but in close relation to it (similar to SSB). Also, to add to my point, I think it one thing if there's only one game with Mario enemies, but Thwomps have made semi-recurring appearances throughout the Zelda series as enemies (e.g. Four Swords Adventures). Then Lakitu is an enemy in Zelda: The Minish Cap. I'm pretty sure the Beanstalk in Minish Cap is the same as the ones from the Mario franchise (even makes the vine growth sound present in the Mario titles). @Bawitdaba Yeah possibly, both of those "summaries" (which in-reality were just excuses to remove several pieces of vital info) on the Monty Mole page were made RIGHT AFTER something bad happened to my account (not the Mega Mole one though). The latter worse summary was made when I told the person who made the summaries on my talk page some advice to not remove info and adding stuff that never happened or is flat out wrong. And wanna know what happens next? People treated my actually good manga sections like they were "flowery writing" and decided to remove everything and replace it with horrible summaries which do not convey the events that happened and had several pieces of wrong info (that is where the Monty Mole Swoopers falling in lava thing came from, since that never happened in the actual source material). I was also banned from editing on my talk page just because I told another user some advice to improve (not even like a warning or something, no, it was a flat out ban from editing my talk page). The worst part is that those horrible summaries on the Monty Mole manga section were treated like a job well done when it was just removing everything for a horrible summarization of a few of the events. I am glad you showed me this wiki cause it is much more nice than the Mario Wiki, and you also showed me that I wasn’t alone on thinking the Super Mario Wiki was corrupt. I think it's terrible what happened to you (and I wish I had been made aware of it sooner). Sounds like it was group cyberbullying. Are you okay now? While I'm not the founder of the wiki (HMfan is), I began to resurrect it after my ban (a blessing in disguise -- now I feel I can be honest to myself as to what I did not like what they did).

In honesty, my retired alias is Results May Vary (that was my username on the Mario Wiki), and it carries this stigma for me like what other editor usernames from in old communities I was on. I already founded other wikis like Conker Wiki, Triforce Wiki, Spyro Wiki, Wiki of Mana, etc prior to my ban (tho none of them are on Miraheze) & worked with fellow MarioWiki editors on most of them. The most popular was Triforce Wiki, as I was really angry at ZW, on Fandom, passing themselves off as independent & I didn't want it to affect the integrity of Mario Wiki.com and the spirit of being independently hosted. In truth this is what got me banned. I decided to be brave & say, "ok this is ridiculous -- ZW, the original founder of NIWA & lying about independence, has been on Fandom for three years & I founded Triforce Wiki three years ago; nobody is standing up to this nonsense. Logically, we can just use the Wikia template to link to them, can we not? What makes them so special over other NIWA wikis?" And low and behold, all the staff members (except the bureaucrats) oppose the proposal, including a few from Nookipedia.

Unfortunately, in Feb/March, there was someone I cyberbullied on Discord (this is the part I specifically don't want to discuss), and I regret it to this day. A lot of people were rightfully mad at me. It didn't become an issue on MarioWiki until I was trying to address the Zelda issue. Just a few days after I began the proposal that I linked, I was permabanned for some incident that occurred a month & a half ago & was something I really wanted to move on from. On April 24, 2022 (a day that marked the death of Mario Wiki, as I was the last person there to try and restore it to its pre-NIWA days), a sysop banned me for "harassment, hateful conduct and other disturbing behaviors within affiliate communities." Mario Wiki is a member of NIWA, which does not have the ability to admit fault or fix open hypocrisy such as their founder being on Fandom and doing some wild spin that they are independent like Mario Wiki, Bulbapedia, etc. I was already declining in popularity when I bullied someone, and NIWA took advantage of that by posting out-of-context screencaps of me using swears/slurs in 2019 and 2020 over Discord communities to try and sway others to be against me because "yadayada he's [x], [x], [this bad thing], [that bad thing]". Big reason why I had meltdowns is because a lot of the people are just the worst -- they will spin your mind into a frenzy that makes you want to snap, especially when I was alienated and demonized for creating Triforce Wiki. They especially started to spread around screencaps of my worst moments when I made that proposal. They do not care about the person who I bullied (and like I said, I wish I hadn't -- if they bothered me, I should've left Discord entirely). Actually, a MarioWiki staff member was in on it as well and publicly posted dirt on me in the MarioWiki server to tell others why I was a bad guy (cited my "NIWA hateboner").

So like I said, NIWA does not care about victims of bullying -- they took advantage of the person's misfortune to get me hated by as many people as possible & rally the anger of already-upset people. I gave the Mario Wiki community an ultimatum, "who is going to be? them or me?" and they chose the former. Forgiveness no longer exists as a virtue. (P.S. before you ask, I did discuss all this with the Miraheze stewards before, so they are aware).

Sorry to hear that, I will admit that I was more rude back in 2019 (though I don’t use Discord, I was just toxic on Super Mario Maker 2 probably due to my autism), but I certainly matured overtime and I am glad you understand that what you did was wrong. I also forgot to mention that the reason why I was banned was because having my sister vote on the Undergrunt proposal (and later one of my friends editing while I was banned), which I will admit was the wrong thing to do. I will still admit the reason I was banned from editing my talk page was incredibly stupid. I was also warned early on because I forgot to use "an" in my sentences. I tried making requests to get unbanned since I changed my ways, but the wiki just didn’t really answer me after the incident. Also, yeah it seems rude how they didn’t care for the victim that was bullied and were more focused on harassing you. I was wondering if you ever had apologized to the person you bullied or anything? Anyways, I am glad you recovered from that drama cause it sounds really bad and I hope you and the victim have gotten better and moved on. Also I do like the explanation on why MarioPedia uses a 1-up Mushroom. If anything, it helped me realize that it wasn’t my fault and it was the Super Mario Wiki’s fault. I did apologize, though through proxy (someone relayed it). They don't trust that I won't do same thing again (issue with online is they take all your mistakes to try and make a narrative out of it, so they'll try and have dumb things you did 9 years ago or so haunt you in the present). Not to mention how they prioritize naming from a source that got several wrong names and misnamed certain enemies to ones from completely separate species more than actual official Japanese names (like, they seriously credited some enemies with Japanese names (like most Super Mario Land 2 enemies such as Ragumo) using the Mario Portal like it is the 100% main source for the name of that enemy and not the fact that it was just the Mario Portal just being lazy and using the original Japanese name). I know that you have different feelings about the Mario Portal than I do, but I think at least what I said with what the did with some enemies with only Japanese names is something that is just incredibly stupid either way. Also, if we can find another more creditable source that used the names Moofish and Sky Blooper, we could use those as sources for those names, rather than a dubious poorly done translation source that got several things wrong (like calling Monty a Rocky Wrench). While I'm still on a bit of a hiatus

I wanted to inform you that Miraheze will be ceasing operations some time later this year. I'm not saying to stop editing, but I would strongly advise you to back up any of your changes/revisions to the articles you do here. Several people are flocking over to WikiTide, the direct successor of Miraheze. Originally I opted to file a request for a Mario Wiki there, but asked to cancel on behalf of the Mariopedia community & I am lacking some of the willpower and energy to be wiki hosting myself nowadays (as RPG Gamer is more skilled in managing a community), so I assume The RPG Gamer will register and ask about Mariopedia there.

The good news is that I backed up the entire wiki as of June 16, 2023, and hopefully I can get a downloadable archive of it up soon. Bawitdaba (talk) 15:10, June 19, 2023 (UTC)

Reorganized articles

Hello, hopefully you don't mind I restructured your Monty Mole article & added some info in the Scope and Manual of Styles pages to the unique sorting methods. It can be a tough one, as it doesn't reflect consistent chronology throughout all forms of media, but that's what the "List of appearances" section is useful for, in my opinion, and this helps the structure at least stand out a bit, for all the Super Mario Wiki content reuse that we do.

Also, I closed various wikis (e.g. Yoshipedia) because I wasn't up for running too many communities (I have a phobia of getting into conflicts into handling things with a community, which has happened with me before). I do have it all fully backed up, and it's not to say we've seen the last of it. I'd just prefer to keep them closer to me. This doesn't apply to Mariopedia, as it is RPG Gamer's wiki, but I'm invested in helping the community out here. DKpedia and Sega Wiki are still open because there's at least one user still actively using those. Hope this helps to know. Bawitdaba (talk) 13:26, October 21, 2023 (UTC)

Personally I think they made Monty Mole as a Rocky Wrench variant (evidenced by Japanese names and later Mario Maker), but then later redesigned Rocky Wrench to look like Monty Mole, so they kind of ended up being variants of each other.
