In the episode, several Gophers acted as minions of [[Larry Koopa|Cheatsy Koopa]] to aid him in his plot to steal all the crops grown by the [[Cave People]] of [[Dome City]]. At night, the Gophers helped Cheatsy by stealing the crops and replacing them with [[Piranha Plant]]s, laughing alongside Cheatsy as well. Once [[Mario]], [[Luigi]], and [[Yoshi]] discover that the crops being stolen in the following morning, Cheatsy and the Gophers use the Piranha Plants to attack Mario and his friends. However, Yoshi manages to eat all the Piranha Plants. When Yoshi is about to eat the last Piranha Plant, one of the Gophers attempts to save the Piranha Plant along with Cheatsy and the other Gophers shortly after. However, Yoshi manages to pull the stem of the now eaten Piranha Plant out of the ground, causing the Gophers and Cheatsy to be pulled out of the ground and be exposed. Cheatsy then tells Mario and Luigi that the only way they are gonna get their crops back is by shopping at the [[Koopamart]], before him and the Gophers quickly go back to their underground lair.
