Monty Mole: Difference between revisions

{{classic-link|SNES|Donut Plains 3}} and {{classic-link|Wii|Moo Moo Meadows}} return in ''[[Mario Kart 8]]'' and ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe]]'', bringing along the Monty Moles with them. They now dig around for some time before popping up, leaving trails like in ''Mario Kart Wii''. The trails that the Monty Moles leave can now also be used to perform [[trick]]s. This changes the gameplay of <small>SNES</small> Donut Plains 3 from the original version in ''Super Mario Kart'' where they would attach themselves to drivers who drove into them. In said track, the Monty Moles in the lake are replaced by [[Cheep Cheep]]s, and there are signs with a picture of a Monty Mole on them placed by the Monty Mole area. In [[Animal Crossing]] from the [[Animal Crossing x Mario Kart 8|''Animal Crossing'' x ''Mario Kart 8'']] DLC Pack, [[Mr. Resetti]] replaces Monty Moles to fit with the theme of the course. In the third wave for the [[Booster Course Pass]] in ''Mario Kart 8 Deluxe'', Monty Moles reappear in {classic-link|DS|Peach Gardens}}

Being moles, Monty Moles spend most of their time beneath the ground. They do not act much differently from moles in the real world, and are not blind. On some occasions, a Monty Mole opens its eyes, particularly when it gets shocked or startled. Monty Moles are bipedal, and this allows them to pick up objects and use them, such as in ''Super Mario 64'', where their attack is to pick up and throw [[rock]]s at Mario. Monty Moles are typically shown to be working for [[Bowser]], usually commanded to attack Mario and his friends like other [[Koopa Troop]] minions. However, Monty Moles sometimes do other things for Bowser like the [[Monty Bros.]] in ''[[Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story]]'' making [[Project K]] for an easy escape tunnel to kidnap [[Princess Peach]], and the Monty Moles in [[Breezy Tunnel]] from ''[[Paper Mario: The Origami King]]'' attempting to mine valuable resources that Bowser could sell. Despite this, in the beta for ''[[Paper Mario: Sticker Star]]'', a king Monty Mole named [[King Choropū]] seems like they would have been the true leader of the species, but they were removed for unknown reasons (though prior to this appearance they were also indirectly mentioned in volume 5 of ''[[Super Mario-kun]]''). Monty Moles have also sometimes worked for someone else like the Monty Bros. in ''Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story'' betraying Bowser to work for [[Fawful]], due to him making them elite employees, and changing Project K to be a train track that Fawful could use to travel across the [[Mushroom Kingdom]]. Another Monty Mole variant named [[Mawful Mole]] and their [[Metal Mawful Mole|metal counterparts]] seem to also be Fawful minions as well.
