Monty Mole: Difference between revisions

Monty Moles appearmake their ''[[Mario & Luigi (series)|Mario & Luigi]]'' debut in ''[[Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time]]'' (though a Monty Mole variant named [[Presenter]] appeared in the [[Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga|previous game). One Monty Mole is encountered in the [[Gritzy Desert]], and will prevent the four Mario Bros. of past and present from progressing unless they can complete his challenge. The challenge consists of the Mario and Luigi quickly getting to the end and hitting the block before time runs out. Two more Monty Moles are seen in the beginning of [[Gritzy Caves]] and they both run an [[Item Shop]] called the [[Monty Mart]]. Additionally, two more Monty Moles appear in Gritzy Caves run two more challenges that must be completed as well. The first challenge being a matching challenge where the player has to squirt the correct target that is shown, while the second challenge is another speed challenge similar to the one in Gritzy Desert. When talking to the Monty Mole after beating the speed challenge, they have a hard time remembering what just happened, explaining that they have bad memory due to getting older.

A group of five Monty MolesMole brothers, called the [[Monty Bros.]], appear in ''[[Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story]]'' and its remake, ''[[Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey]]'', where they utilize a giant drilling machine to fulfill Bowser's orders and dig a tunnel below [[Toad Town]] to finish [[Project K]]. They do not make much progress however, sodue to the bedrock on the other side. Bowser then has to help finish theirthe Monty Bros. duties.

The Monty Bros. later reappear in the [[Treasure Chamber]] in [[Bowser's Castle]], betrayingwhere Bowserthey andtell claimBowser that [[Fawful]] bribed them to be his minions and orderedmaking themProject K into a railroad for Fawful to gethave rideasy oftransportation around the Mushroom Kingdom.<ref>"Bowser must stop the train before it escapes, thwarting the Montys’ plan to give Fawful easy transportation to anywhere in the Mushroom Kingdom." They- ''Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story Prima Guide'' page 189</ref> The Monty Bros. attack Bowser in a giant train called the [[Fawful Express]], in which Bowser must defeat them in his [[Giant Bowser|giant form]]. If heBowser fails to do so, the Monty Bros. will escape using a rickety old bridge, with Bowser falling in the gorge when attempting to walk on it. If Bowser succeeds, the falling chunks of the debris from the train will defeatcrush the Monty Bros. which presumably kills them. However, theythe Monty Bros. escape the Fawful Express in the remake, alongside other unseen Monty Moles.

A Fawful-themed Monty Mole enemiesvariant called [[Mawful Mole]]s can also be found as enemies in [[Blubble Lake]] and as support enemies for the [[MetalTower Mawfulof MoleYikk]]s canfight. beMawful Moles also behave founda stronger metal variants called [[Metal Mawful Mole]]s, which appear in this[[Peach's gameCastle Garden]].

Monty Moles also make ana minor enemy appearance in ''[[Mario & Luigi: Dream Team]]''. Here, they act as support enemies for exclusively for the [[Bowser Jr.]] during his battle at the end of the [[Battle Ring (Mario & Luigi: Dream Team)|Battle Ring]]'s Battle Medley,. repairingThe Monty Moles burrow above the ground and begin making repairs to the [[Junior Clown Car]] after it explodes. If theythe Monty Moles get hit by a [[Taunt Ball]], they take longer to repair his Clown Car. After finishing their repairs, the Monty Moles will burrow back in the ground.

Monty Moles reappear in ''[[Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam]]'' once again as an enemy. They battle in holes that werethey dug out ofin the ground, while also having a similar attack pattern as [[the Mawful Mole]]s enemies in ''[[Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story]]''. Unlike Mawful Moles, they can sometimes throw [[Golden Egg]]s instead of rocks. TheyIf the Golden Eggs are countered, they will give the Mario Bros. a few [[coin]]s. Monty Moles are encountered normally in [[Sunbeam Plains]] and later the haunted area of [[Gloomy Woods]], with the ones in the latter area being slightly stronger. TheyMonty Moles also additionally appear in a few missions, such as enemies the Mario Bros. need to avoid to avoid in [[Fly Guy Flyby]] as enemies to avoid, as well as in a few questions of some of the quiz missions like [[Toad Trivia]] and [[Toad Brain]]. TheyMonty Moles can also appear induring one of the attacks from the [[Wiggler (Mario & Luigi Paper Jam|Wiggler]] boss fight, in which [[Paper Mario (character)|Paper Mario]] has to hit several Monty Moles and [[Paper Spear Guy]]s onwith his hammer that are blocking Paper Mario's way whilewhen he is being chased by Wiggler.
