One also appears in the Discus throw event, where after a character's discus has landed upon being thrown, a Monty Mole appears on-screen, holding a sign, and flips it over, with the sign displaying the number of meters in which it was thrown. Incidentally, Monty Moles would not return as Discus referees in the ''[[Mario & Sonic]]'' series, let alone referees for any of the Olympic events.
