Since her debut, Peach has appeared in installments related to the ''Mario'' game series for over three decades. Peach is occasionally a supporting character in mainstream games, and almost always playable in spinoff installments. Her most prominent appearance to date is as the heroine of ''[[Super Princess Peach]]''.
==Creation and development==

Princess Peach makes a return in ''[[Super Mario 3D World]]'' alongside [[Mario]], [[Luigi]] and [[Toad]] as a playable character, which is the first time since ''Super Mario Bros. 2'' (25 years) she has been playable in the mainstream ''Mario'' games, her first playable appearance in a platformer since ''[[Super Princess Peach]]'', and also the first time she appears playable in a 3D Mario title. She is the slowest of the playable characters, but much like in ''Super Mario Bros. 2'', she can temporarily hover in mid-air. Like every other character in the game, she can use all of the power-ups that appear. When power-ups are set to match each characters' color, hers are always pink. She appears wearing a pink Cat Suit, Boomerang Suit, Propeller Box, and Ice Skate.

Peach appears again in ''[[Super Mario Odyssey]]'', once again taking her signature role as the damsel in distress. Bowser makes an attempt to marry Peach, and large billboards and posters advertising the marriage can be seen throughout the different kingdoms in the game. Peach is also seen to be wearing a tiara, instead of her usual crown. The tiara is revealed to be [[Cappy]]'s sister, [[Tiara]].
In [[Cloud Kingdom]], Peach was seen wearing the Lochlady Dress before Mario fights Bowser. Upon Mario defeating Bowser, the latter has the airship fire the onboard cannons to attack the [[Odyssey]] and cause Mario, Cappy and the Odyssey to fall to the [[Lost Kingdom]]. Peach cries for help from Mario, but as Mario is unable to help her, Bowser leaves the Cloud Kingdom with her.
When Mario reaches the top Pagoda palace in [[Bowser's Kingdom]], he attempts to rescue Peach and Tiara but he is knocked out by Bowser's hat with boxing gloves and takes off with both captives to leave the Kingdom and head to Moon Kingdom.
Mario ultimately manages to catch up to Bowser and Peach and halt the wedding at [[Moon Kingdom]], also defeating Bowser. However, before she and Mario can escape, the chapel starts to collapse. In order to save himself and Peach, Mario is forced to [[capture]] Bowser in order to get all of them to safety. After getting to safety, Bowser, even after losing his power, attempts to vie her hand in marriage with a bouquet of Piranha Plants, pushing Mario away. To prevent that, Mario desperately tries the same thing with a [[Rocket Flower]]. As a result, Peach gets swarmed by pestering grooms, but ultimately chooses neither and sternly rejects them, annoyed by their behavior. However, when she decides to leave on the Odyssey, she beckons the disheartened archenemies to come along to go home.
In the post-game, Peach disappears from her castle, having packed things up, deciding she wanted to explore the various kingdoms on her own terms with Tiara. She can be encountered at various kingdoms, where she provides Mario with the relevant Power Moon when talked with. After giving Mario the Power Moon, she then makes a brief comment that hints at her next destination. When encountered, she waves enthusiastically at Mario, strongly implying that she has forgiven him for his aforementioned actions in the ending. After meeting and obtaining a Power Moon from her in every kingdom, she returns to her castle, though the player can still see her in kingdoms where she was previously encountered, where she now gives comments that are related to the kingdoms. Although she wears her traditional dress when encountering Mario at the Mushroom Kingdom, if the player goes in and out of her castle, Peach will be wearing a different outfit each time she is encountered.

Before the events of ''[[Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door]]'', Peach goes on a trip to [[Rogueport]]. OnAt the market, she meets an old saleswoman, presumably one of the [[Shadow Sirens]]. They decide that Peach would beis the best body for their bodilessthe [[Shadow Queen]], who was locked up behind the [[Thousand-Year Door]] for exactly one thousand years by the time of theto gamepossess. They give Peach the [[Magical Map]], as she hadhas a pure heart, which wasis needed to be able to open the chest of the map. The Shadow Sirens then trickedtrick the alien [[Sir Grodus]] into capturing Peach and animating the Shadow Queen with her body. Before this happened, however, Peach hadhas already sent the Magical Map to Mario, inviting him on a treasure hunt.

While both Mario and, unsuccessfullyBowser, Bowserwho is unsuccessful, searchedsearch for the Crystal Stars to rescue her, the princess becamebecome active herself in the fortress. The base's main computer, the [[TEC-XX]], fellfalls in love with her due to a short circuit in its system, and betrayedbetrays Grodus to help Peach escape. He allowedallows her to send an e-mail to Mario at regular intervals. By the computer's orders, Peach dresseddresses up as an X-Naut to question Grodus, and also mademakes for herself an invisibility potion to find out even more about Grodus's plans. However, Grodus hadhas TEC shut down when he foundfinds out, and tookthen takes Peach to the [[Palace of Shadow]]. Mario followed,follows them and he metmeets up with Grodus in the room right beforewhere the tomb of the Shadow Queen rests. Grodus confrontedconfronts Mario, and wasis preparedready to kill Peach if Mario mademakes a false move. However, Bowser crashedcrashes through the ceiling and fellfalls on top of Grodus. The Shadow Queen engagedengages the battle with Mario and his partners.; Howeverhowever, she foundbelieves Peach's body is too weak and returnedreturns to her true form (a purple shadow creature) for the final battle. Peach wasis able to give her powers to Mario for this, with the Shadow Queen having no choice but to do so thanks to inhabiting her body. She couldcan now talk out of the Shadow Queen's body as the demon wasis weakened by the encouraging voices of the entire population of the RogueportMagical areaMap's world, which wereare broughttaken to the basement of the Palace of Shadow by the magic of the Crystal Stars. In the end, the Shadow Queen wasis defeated and Peach wasis restored. Then she along with, Mario, Luigi, and Toadsworth leave Rogueport to return to the Mushroom Kingdom. Post-game, Peach remains in the mainland of the Mushroom Kingdom while Mario, Luigi, and Toadsworth return to Rogueport to find another treasure.

Although in ''Super Mario Galaxy'' it is not seen that Rosalina and Peach are friends, in issue 38 of the Super Mario-Kun manga, they are shown to be good friends. While the "Ends of the Universe" begins to occur, them talk as old friends.
Peach and Toadette’s friendship is evident in the good chemistry they share in both Mario Baseball installments. Toadette is also part of Peach’s default team, the Peach Monarchs. In the second installment, Toadette joins Mario’s cause as she wants to help him free the park Peach had built. After Peach is rescued from Bowser Jr., Toadette struggles to tell her what became of Daisy, as she doesn’t want her to worry.

Although Princess Peach is not necessarily a close friend of Wario, however he aided in her rescue during the events of ''Super Mario 64 DS'' and afterwards Peach thanked him and allowed him to stay for some cake. He, along with Waluigi, is angry about her winning tournaments in ''Mario Power Tennis'', as seen in her victory scene. They even tried to steal her trophy before she could grab it. Bowser has repeatedly kidnapped Peach over a dozen times, and torments her kingdom constantly. It has been shown Bowser has fallen in love with her, and wants to win her heart. Bowser's profile, in ''Mario Party Advance'', states he has the "hots" for Peach. Bowser is also intensely envious of Peach's relationship with Mario, and hates it when another villain kidnaps her.
Bowser has been more open in expressing himself lately. An example of this was seen in ''Mario Power Tennis'', where he tried to get Peach to kiss him in front of the spectators, an attempt that failed. In ''Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door'', Bowser set out to kidnap her back from Grodus. The two do not play well when together in ''Mario Superstar Baseball'' because of their bad chemistry. In ''Super Paper Mario'', Peach and Bowser are supposedly married by Count Bleck, making them husband and wife. However, they were wed by Count Bleck, who is obviously not authorized to do such a thing, which means that the wedding is a "sham" and, therefore, unofficial. Bowser, though, continued to believe in the marriage. In ''Mario Strikers Charged'', the two are depicted as rivals. In other media Bowser had been shown to have feelings for her as well.
Despite his feelings for her, Peach does not display them back. She is shown to be visibly afraid of him, especially in ''Super Mario RPG'' when she almost faints when she sees Bowser as an ally of Mario. When Bowser refuses to team up with Mario to defeat a greater evil, the princess often sweet-talks him into doing it, much to the Koopa King's annoyance. She even went as far as to calling Bowser a sweetie when he agreed to join her and Mario's group in ''Super Paper Mario''.

Bowser Jr. appeared in ''Super Mario Sunshine'' claiming Peach was his mother. It is stated in Brawl he felt so strongly about her, he kidnapped her. Junior, as shown in ''[[Super Mario Sunshine]]'', liked Peach and tried to get her to join him and Bowser, but Peach politely refused the offer.
Even though Bowser Jr. knows Peach is not his mother, he still called her 'mama' in ''[[Mario Superstar Baseball]]''. Bowser Jr. also must be present on Peach's team in order for the team to be called Peach Princesses. Bowser Jr. has kidnapped her in ''Super Mario Sunshine'', ''New Super Mario Bros.'', ''Mario Super Sluggers'', and ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii''.
