It appears in the Subspace Emissary story of ''[[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]''. During the events of the story, it appearssuddenly outemerges offrom a lake inafter thehearing jungle[[Diddy whenKong]], itwho had been looking at the hearsnearly-destroyed [[Diddy KongArwing]] nearby. It attacks himDiddy with Dragon Pulse,thenand snatches himDiddy in itshis claws. Afterwards, Diddy Kong screams for help, withwhereas [[Fox McCloud|Fox]], who wasmanaged into escape the damaged [[Arwing]], nearbyleaped (whichfrom Diddythe foundArwing earlier),and jumpingbroke outDiddy tofree helpof Rayquaza's himgrasp using [[Fox Illusion]]. Rayquaza, thenferious, triesends to attackup Fox withusing Dragon Pulse on McCloud, butwho hedeflects usesit hiswith [[Reflector]], to reverseflinging it back at it. Rayquaza, thenwho falls back ininto the lake. After that, FoxMcCloud and Diddy fightthen end up fighting Rayquaza, resulting as athe boss,second similarmain toboss [[Peteyof Piranha]]the game. Some of its attacks involve burrowing into the ground then bursting upwards, or flying with great speed horizontally over the stage and sometimes drop a Thunder attack. The player can beat it by attacking it around the head.
