Line 1:
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Snake can use his codec in the Shadow Moses Island stage to gather information from other Metal Gear characters about his opponents from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, through a codec conversation.

Due to all of the codec conversations being reused and mostly unchanged in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, much of the dialogue makes references to elements of Brawl that are no longer applicable to Ultimate, such as the former's title, and is the same for all alternate character models, such as Alph and female Pokémon Trainer.

Here is the complete list of codec conversations by alphabetical order.
Line 76 ⟶ 78:
*Colonel: That's the holy blade of Ragnell. It's an extremely powerful sword. But don't forget, Snake, you're armed to the teeth yourself. To your opponents, you might just be their worst nightmare. The distance between you and your enemy is a crucial element in battle. Using that distance can give you an advantage against some enemies.
*Snake: Yeah, I've got the same feeling...

Note
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the conversation does not trigger with Ike's Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn costumes, presumably due to the conversation corresponds to Fire Emblem: Path of Radiances context.

Jigglypuff
Line 89 ⟶ 88:
*Snake: So it puts a lot of energy into sleeping? Sounds pretty irresponsible if you ask me.
*Colonel: Takes all kinds, Snake. Especially here in Brawl.

Note
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the Colonel still uses the word "Brawl", despite the VS mode in Ultimate is called in-game "Smash".

King Dedede
Line 192 ⟶ 188:
*Colonel: Even if he had telepathic powers, I don't think he'd use them to mess with you like that. I hear he's a good kid.

Olimar / Alph
*Mei Ling: Snake, have you ever heard of the ancient Chinese story, "The Vain Ocean of Wealth and Splendor" from the Zhen Zhong Ji?
*Snake: I've been waiting for the movie.
Line 200 ⟶ 196:
*Snake: No one truly fights alone. Not even me.
*Mei Ling: ...You're absolutely right, Snake. Good luck. I'm rooting for you.

Note
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mei Ling will still say Olimar's name even if the taunt is targeted to Alph.

Princess Peach
Line 237 ⟶ 230:
*Colonel: It's not like that, Snake. Those Pokémon wouldn't know what to do if the Pokémon Trainer wasn't there giving orders. In every battle, there's a soldier doing the fighting, and a commander telling him what to do. By working together as a team, they accomplish much more than either could on their own. So let's do this together, partner.
*Snake: ...Yeah... Whatever you say, Colonel.

Note
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Snake will still refers the Pokémon Trainer with male pronouns even if the taunt is targeted to the female Pokémon Trainer.

R.O.B.
Line 265 ⟶ 255:
*Mei Ling: Don't you think talking to someone halfway around the world is a kind of magic? Or flying across entire continents?
*Snake: No, I think this is completely different.

Note
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the conversation still regards the transformation mechanic, despite Zelda and Sheik became individual characters since Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS; additionally, this also does not match with The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds context, although Sheik's design in Brawl is based upon unused concept artwork for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

Solid Snake
Line 285 ⟶ 272:
*Otacon: But...why? You must have some kind of reason.
*Snake: ...Nope, just don't like him.

Note
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Otacon still uses the word "Brawl", despite the VS mode in Ultimate is called in-game "Smash".

Toon Link
Line 345 ⟶ 329:
*Mei Ling: Um, yeah, you wish. Even without the Power Suit, all that training she did with the Chozo has made her a super athlete. I don't think a normal human could ever keep up. Just look at her.
*Snake: ...Her loss.

Note
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the conversation still regards the transformation mechanic, despite Samus and Zero Suit Samus became individual characters since Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.
