The Super Mario Logo is the logo that defines the Mario series as a whole. Below is a history of all the Super Mario logos from the 1980's to today!


1985-1988

This Logo was created on January 1, 1985 months before the release of Super Mario Bros. it was used for that game and was used as the Super Mario Logo until 1988. This logo is still used on other Super Mario Bros. games as well as the New Super Mario Bros. Games since 2006.


1988-1990

This logo debuted with the release of Super Mario Bros. 3 in on October 23, 1988. The design was changed to fit the trends of the 1980's more. It got dated before long and as a result was replaced with the next logo below.


1990-1996

This Logo debuted on November 21, 1990 with the release of Super Mario World. It was used on several Mario-related ads for 6 years after this before being replaced with the next logo.

1996-2011

On June 23, 1996 with the release of Super Mario 64 a new logo for the Mario Series was released. This logo is one of the most easily recognized as it was used for 15 years and is currently the longest used. Other than games, this logo was also used on Mario Ads and merchandise such as Toys, Plushies, Backpacks, Lunchboxes, Nintendo Gear, Clothes, and more. Although it was replaced with the next logo below, this logo remained used as a secondary logo until June 2013. This logo is still used on Super Mario Chess.

2011-present

On November 3, 2011 the logo underwent another design change. This logo first appeared on Super Mario 3D Land and has been used since although the previous logo remained in use for a period of time. The core design is similar to the previous logo with several tweaks and color switches. This logo like the previous has appeared on numerous Mario Ads and merchandise such as Toys, Plushies, Backpacks, Lunchboxes, Nintendo Gear, Clothes, and more. It is also used on Lego Super Mario.
