The Legend of Zelda is a video game franchise closely related to the Mario franchise. It has few spinoffs compared to Mario, and has often been synonymous with its main titular series. Ever since the first game, The Legend of Zelda, which was released in 1986, a main The Legend of Zelda series title would often share the same development team alongside a Super Mario series title by the same developers within Nintendo EAD.
