The Legend of Zelda is a video game franchise closely related to the Mario franchise. It has few spinoffs compared to Mario, and has often been synonymous with its main titular series. Ever since the first game, The Legend of Zelda, which was released in 1986, a Super Mario series title would often be developed alongside a The Legend of Zelda title by the same team within Nintendo EAD.
