The Legend of Zelda is a video game franchise closely related to the Mario franchise. It has few spinoffs compared to Mario, and has often been synonymous with its main titular series. Ever since the first game, The Legend of Zelda, which was released in 1986, a Super Mario series title would often be developed alongside a The Legend of Zelda title by the same team within Nintendo EAD. Link: The Faces of Evil and Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon are the first The Legend of Zelda titles to not be released for a Nintendo console and to not be a part of the main The Legend of Zelda series.
