In the Japanese version of ''Super Smash Bros. Melee'', Topis are small seals rather than the yeti-like creature seen in Western versions. The reason for this strange change is actually based on the enemy's original appearance in ''Ice Climbers''; although Topis originated in the Japanese version of their first appearance as the small seals Japanese gamers are familiar with, issues regarding animal cruelty eventually changed them to more "fictional" creatures for English versions of both ''Ice Climber'' and ''Super Smash Bros. Melee''. |
