The L33t Hamm3r Broz. speaking leet during their initial confrontation with Mario, Luigi, Baby Mario, and Baby Luigi in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time

Leet, also named Leetspeak, is a classic Internet language that substitutes characters for numbers or punctuation resembling it. The definition of leet is broad, as it often consists also of deliberate grammatical errors, such as incorrect use of tense or using a punctuation character in place of a word, such as substituting "are" with an equals sign. The only appearance of leet in the Mario franchise is in the English localization for Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, which has the L33t Hamm3r Broz. speak leet upon being brainwashed from a Shroob's mind-control helmet. When the L33t Hamm3r Broz. are defeated in battle, they become regular Hammer Bros. and no longer talk in leet.

The L33t Hamm3r Broz.'s quotes do not make use of leet entirely, as not every character is substituted for similar-looking one.
