The Banana Hoard first appears in ''[[Donkey Kong Country]]'', and makes several of its appearances within the [[Donkey Kong Country (series)|''Donkey Kong Country'' series]]. The Banana Hoard is desirable to various villain groups, usually the [[Kremling Krew]], whose motives for stealing it have been mostly unclear (although it is suggested to be because of their potassium and Vitamin A),<ref>''Donkey Kong Country'' instruction booklet, page 4 - "'''''IT WAS A DARK AND STORMY NITE...:''' They coveted Donkey Kong's banana stockpile, the largest on the island, and probably in the world.
