(not needed now. also, the raguo/burrobot connection is unrelated drill machines & moles both dig underground, so the two ideas combined) |

**A relative to Monty Mole named [[Ragumo]], who debuted in ''[[Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins]]'' also has a drill which is very similar to Burrobot's drill (though this is also likely coincidental). |

Burrobots are a mole-based Badnik from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise that debuted in the 16-bit Sonic the Hedgehog. Burrobots usually try to attempt to attack Sonic and his allies by bursting through the ground in-order to attack them. Despite being a somewhat recurring enemy in the Sonic series, Burrobots have only made one Mario-related appearance in the Nintendo 3DS version of Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
In the Nintendo 3Ds version of Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Burrobots make a cameo appearance as walls during the Golf Plus event on Hole 9, where they use their sprite appearance from the 16-bit Sonic the Hedgehog game. If the playable character's golf ball hits a Burrobot wall, the Burrobot will disappear and the golf ball lands safely on the lawn without falling onto unfavorable terrain.
