In ''[[Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey]]'', Mawful Moles have the coloration and proportions of regular Monty Moles (with many sprites of Mawful Moles now having a strong resemblance to the Monty Mole sprites in ''[[Mario & Luigi: Dream Team]]'' and ''[[Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam]]''). Additionally, they now take critical damage from hammer attacks. In the Tower of Yikk battle, the Mawful Moles now gain an extra line of dialogue before repairing the Tower. This makes Mawful Moles one of the very few Fawful themed enemies to be shown talking on-screen (
