While Monty Moles do not appear within the actual gameplay of ''[[NES Open Tournament Golf]]'', what seemsappears to be one appearsis shown on the game cover, including within the [[Famicom Disk System]] version, which released in [[1987]], a few years prior to Monty Mole's debut. The mole has round sunglasses, three hairs, and a square tooth similar to modern appearances. It is also atypically small in comparison to Mario.
