Peppy Hare is a gray hare and a character from the Star Fox series, in which he debuted in the first Star Fox game. Peppy is usually one of Fox's main teammates, along with Falco and Slippy, such as in Star Fox 64, though since the events of Star Fox: Assault, Peppy has retired as a pilot.

Peppy has made a few Mario-related appearances in the past, namely the Super Smash Bros. series.

Mario-related appearances

Club Nintendo magazine

He made another appearance in the Club Nintendo comic "Super Mario: Verloren in der Zeit", where he is shown watching the Olympics with Fox and Falco.

Super Smash Bros. series

In Super Smash Bros. Melee, Peppy is featured in both Fox's and Falco's smash taunts on the Corneria and Venom stages. There is also a collectible trophy of Peppy.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Peppy is featured in the Lylat Cruise conversations that can be activated by either Fox, Falco, or Wolf.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga

In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, an unused script had Peppy calling Fox back before the latter gave the cashier the Gold Ring (known as the Bonus Ring in final game) in the Starbeans Cafe. Additionally, one of the unused sprites related to Fox's scrapped role depicted Peppy in a radio conversation portrait similar to the ones in Star Fox 64.

Super Mario Maker

Peppy also appears as one of the Mystery Mushroom costumes in Super Mario Maker. It is unlocked randomly after completing 100 Mario Challenge on Normal setting or harder. Upon touching the Mystery Mushroom, Peppy's voice clip from the original Star Fox plays, similar to Fox's and Falco's costume. Pressing +Control Pad up will have General Pepper say "Good Luck" from the original Star Fox. When clearing a course, the "Mission Complete" theme from the original Star Fox plays. When fall in a pit, a crashing sound and a loss of Arwing jingle can be heard; both from the original Star Fox.
