Peppy Hare is a character from the Star Fox series. He was part of the original Star Fox team, along with Pigma Dengar and Fox's dad, James McCloud. But on Venom, Pigma betrayed them, and Andross captured and killed James. Only Peppy escaped. Now retired as a Pilot, Peppy became the crews navigator, but eventually became the head of the Cornerian Fleet when General Pepper became ill. He also appeared in Super Smash Bros. Melee in the Corneria arena, and the Venom arena. He (along with Slippy Toad, Falco Lombardi, and Fox) will occasionly shoot energy bursts at the players on the arena. He also has a trophy in the game.

Trophy Information
Peppy was a member of the original Star Fox team with Fox's father James McCloud. Peppy was the sole survivor of the Battle of Venom where a treacherous teammate named Pigma Dengar betrayed the team. Peppy now rarely climbs into the cockpit of an Arwing, preferring instead an advisory position in mission planning.

In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, an unused script had Peppy calling Fox back before the latter gave the cashier the Gold Ring (known as the Bonus Ring in final game) in the Starbeans Cafe. Additionally, one of the unused sprites related to Fox's scrapped role depicted Peppy in a radio conversation portrait similar to the ones in Star Fox 64.

Peppy also appears as one of the Mystery Mushroom costumes in Super Mario Maker. It is unlocked randomly after completing 100 Mario Challenge on Normal setting or harder. Upon touching the Mystery Mushroom, Peppy's voice clip from the original Star Fox plays, similar to Fox's and Falco's costume. Pressing wii will have General Pepper say "Good Luck" from the original Star Fox. When clearing a course, the "Mission Complete" theme from the original Star Fox plays. When fall in a pit, a crashing sound and a loss of Arwing jingle can be heard; both from the original Star Fox.
