The [[Lava Bud]]s featured in ''[[Paper Mario]]'' are lava-dwelling plants that appear in chapter 5 inside the Volcano of [[Lavalava Island]]. They are encountered during the boss fight against [[Lava Piranha]]. They can be attacked and stunned if hit enough, but will always be revived as long as the main plant is still intact. After the main plant receives enough damage, the second phase of the battle will start and the Lava Buds will be set on fire, meaning that [[Mario]] will be injured if he jumps on them without a protecting [[Badge]]. [[Sushie|Sushie's]] [[Squirt (move)|Squirt]] and [[Tidal Wave]] moves have the ability to put out the fire.
