Winter Sports Champion Race is one of the Dream Events that is available to play in Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. In this event, all of the players must compete down hill through a series of turns and slopes. This event takes place on the Mini Russian Island.

Description

The event starts off which all players in a helicopter, as they await to jump off the helicopter and begin skiing down the vast, snowy mountain. If the player(s) holds down B Button before the event starts, they will slowly charge up their acceleration to jump off the helicopter. When the announcer yells "Go!", move the Wii Remote Plus down and up several times to successfully fly out of the helicopter. The player(s) must then tilt the Wii Remote Plus to move left or right.

After about ten seconds, four question-mark flaps will appear, giving the player(s) an alternate way of continuing through the level, including bobsled, skis, ice skating and snow boarding. Thus, two routes are given, one completely covered on ice for the ice skaters and bobsledders while another snowy route for those who chose snow boarding and skiers. Rails are available for those who chose snow boarding and skiers (you may balance yourself via titling the Wii Remote Plus left or right), while ramps have been placed for any of the players, regardless of their decisions. Another section with four flaps appears again, offering the same decisions as before.

By the third time the player(s) enter the four flap section (which, like the others, still have the same choices of transportation) they will be transported inside a cave. Slowly, but surely, the player(s) will make their out of the cave and back inside the cave repeatedly, where they continue racing to the goal. As the player(s) finally make their way to the final four flaps section (still, having the same options as before), they have several more turns and slopes to go through as they enter a village or sorts. After going through what seems like a U-turn, the goal is straight ahead. Finish first and the player will receive a gold medal; second place receives a silver medal, while a bronze medal is given to those who were in third place.
