Banana is a fruit more known in Donkey Kong franchise for being the Kong's favorite food and most often as minor collectibles.
History
In its first appearance, bananas were used as a weapon, for example: They were dropped by Donkey Kong Jr. to hit enemies in his game and used by Lanky Kong to K. Rool slip in Donkey Kong 64.
As Donkey Kong became the protagonist from his franchise, bananas became collectibles, for example: 100 bananas need to be collected by Kongs to gain an extra life during the most games (Donkey Kong Country series, Donkey Kong Land series and DK: Jungle Climber). The total number of bananas must be collected by racers to receive a top-speed in Diddy Kong Racing and fill the Wild Move in Donkey Kong Barrel Blast. The bananas are DK's overall health in Donkey Kong Jungle Beat which losing all results in a Game Over. The total number of bananas must collect the bananas by quintet from Kong Family to receive the Banana Medals (75) and feed Scoff (100) in Donkey Kong 64. 300 bananas must be deposited by DK to heal his health or become invincible in DK: King of Swing.
In the DK universe there are bananas that are alive, for example: Banana Birds who live on cloud from Kong Country, Banana Fairies who live on Banana Fairy Island and Xananab's species who live on Planet Plantaen.
