First, they are not restricted by chains, instead floating along with a tail made of fire. At any time, they may shoot [[Fireball|fireballs]] at [[Mario]] or [[Luigi]]. The fireballs are taken directly out of their four-fireball tail. When all four have been fired, the Fire Chomp will self-destruct, damaging the Mario brother if he's within the blast radius, [[Amp]]s have the same face as Fire Chomps. Also, unlike Chain Chomps, they are vulnerable to stomps and (ironically) [[Fire Mario]]/Luigi's [[fireball]]s. They live mainly in the skies.

FlameFire Chomps return in ''[[New Super Mario Bros.]]'', again with a four fireball limit. They only appeared in World 7-1. They can be defeated by just jumping on their heads. Unlike Chain Chomps, which are almost invincible (bar a few techniques and powers of special characters), Flame Chomps can safely be [[Jump|jumped]] upon. Doing so knocks them out of the sky. Once they run out of fireballs, they explode like [[Bob-omb|Bob-ombs]].

In ''[[New Super Mario Bros. 2]]'', Flame Chomps exclusively appear in [[World 6-B (New Super Mario Bros. 2)|World 6-B]]. It acts exactly the same as in ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii'', when this enemy runs out of fire, it flashes red and self-destruct seconds later. They can be defeated with a single jump or with fireballs, just like in the previous games.
