Gnawties are beaver creatures native to Kong Island. They make their first appearance in Donkey Kong Country. They are considered pests by Kong Family and Rambi's natural enemies.
Biology
All Gnawties have huge eyes, toothy, black nose, yellow bellies, orange plaid tails and pink paws. They have different fur colors as: green, red, blue and yellow.
History
In Donkey Kong Country to Donkey Kong 64, most Gnawties are used by the Kremling Krew to disrupt the Kong Family's journey.[2][3] Despite being many, they are the weakest enemies that can be easily defeated by any hit. The red Gnawties that walk on millstones infested ancient temples in Donkey Kong Country.[4]

- GBA Player's Guide (page 16): Gnawtys are likely the weakest enemies you'll encounter. One jump on their head from Donkey or Diddy will flatten them for good. Gnawtys often travel in packs or drop from platforms overhead. Stop, slap and roll over the bad beavers to your little ape heart's delight.

- Prima Official Game Guide (page 15): This creature will charge you for a Melon Slice, but you can knock it cold with one punch.
