The Koopa Kingdom (also known as Dark Land and Bowser Kingdom) is a kingdom under the ditactorship of King Bowser Koopa where is Koopa Troop's capital base of operations and homeland of the Koopa species. Unlike other kingdoms, Koopa Kingdom is a dangerous place, involved in various conflicts with other kingdoms (mainly Mushroom Kingdom) and rigidly protected by military forces during the Bowser's rule. This kingdom always serves as the final location during Mario games.

Geography

Koopa Kingdom is very known for its volcanoes spewing lava in every corner. The most horrendous scene on this kingdom is a wasteland filled by bones from many creatures and the flora that died due to volcanic heat. The surface is completely dark because of the cloudy sky with lightning. Despite the volcanically hot climate, this kingdom there are glacial parts in the underground caverns.

History

Background information

The Koopa Kingdom is a monarchy ruled by the Koopa family.[1] Currently, the ruler is Bowser since his childhood with tutelage of his adviser Kamek.[2][3][4] The kingdom under Bowser's power has always been ruled by dictatorship even since he was a child.[5]

Yoshi series

In Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, this kingdom was explored by Yoshi along with Baby Mario where they passed by Skeleton Goonies, protected themselves from Bandits, jumping from the spinning logs, defeated Tap-Tap, dodged the stalactites on glacier melting through lava, survived in a cavernous maze, risked the danger line in the night and defeated Baby Bowser to save Stork & Baby Luigi.

In Yoshi's Story, this kingdom appears in the stage P. 6-Finale where one of Yoshis explored the Bowser's Castle. In Yoshi's Island DS, this kingdom appears in cutscene where future Kamek kidnap Baby Bowser from the past Kamek.

Mario series

In Super Mario Bros. 3, this kingdom was explored by Mario & Luigi where they outrun the Tanks, infiltrated the battleship, dealt with challenges on Hand Traps, jumped on airship, walked in the forest, running in the wasteland, defeated Boom Boom, outrun the tanks on Bowser's Castle and defeated Bowser to save Princess Peach.

In New Super Mario Bros., this kingdom was explored by Mario & Luigi where they got past the defenses, changed the water elevation, defeated Baby Bowser, escaped from Maw-Rays, dodged the Scuttlebugs, defeated Bowser's skeleton, survived in a volcanic cave, escaped the lava flood, fought several Koopas, faced eruptions, defeated Bowser Jr. again and defeated resurrected Bowser along with his son to save Princess Peach.

In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, this kingdom was explored by Mario & Luigi where they escaped from volcanic ashes, bounced off the spike balls, survived from lava waves, defeated Kamek, swam in the dark waters, drove the Tilt Lifts, escaped the lava flood, defeated Baby Bowser and defeated Bowser to save Princess Peach.

In New Super Mario Bros. 2, this kingdom was explored by Mario & Luigi where they dodged the volcanic debris, explored the Boo House, traveled in a dinosaur skeleton, walked on ice cavern, defeated Reznors, explored in a dead forest, crossed on traps and defeated Bowser to save Princess Peach.

In Super Mario Odyssey, this kingdom was explored by Mario along with Cappy where they infiltrate on Bowser's castle and defeated Broodals to visit the Moon Kingdom.

Mario, Up, Up, and a Koopa

In The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, this kingdom in most episodes only shows the King Koopa's castle where he and Koopalings live. The kingdom was fully shown in the episode Do the Koopa where Princess Toadstool, Mario, Luigi and Toad were in search of Doom Dancer Music Box kept in Temple of Gloom.
