"Cheatsy's Life" is a self-praising song that Cheatsy Koopa and his Gopher minions sing during the Super Mario World episode "Gopher Bash," with the song itself being about how evil and fun Cheatsy's life can be.

Role in episode

Three Gophers singing "Cheatsy's Life"

After Cheatsy Koopa and his Gopher minions return to their lair with the stolen crops they took from the Cave People, Cheatsy begins singing "Cheatsy's Life" alongside his Gopher minions who are singing backup. However, starting with the second verse, Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi begin kidnapping the Gophers one by one and tying them up to suspend them above Cheatsy, unknown to him and the remaining Gophers. Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi then sing backup in the third verse instead of the Gophers, after they successfully kidnapped all the Gophers. However, Cheatsy does not notice Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi until he finishes his song, where Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi then drop the suspended Gophers onto Cheatsy and take the crops back.

Lyrics

Cheatsy Koopa: Oh, when Koopa sees a chance for some real mischief,
But there’s the blackest of evil to be done
He smiles and then says, "Cheatsy, just go do it"
And Cheatsy’s life becomes a lot of fun

Gophers: Oh, when there's underhanded evil to be done (To be done)
Then Cheatsy’s life becomes a lot of fun (Lots of fun)

Cheatsy Koopa: If you want to cheat a family of their mortgage
If you want to put some grandma on the street (Put her down)
Then I'm the one that has the plan, I know how to do it
Cheatsy's got the schemes that can't be beat

Gophers: Oh, when there's underhanded evil to be done (To be done)
Then Cheatsy’s life becomes a happy one (Happy one)

Cheatsy Koopa: If the idea is to take someone’s life savings
If you want to steal a little boy’s last dime
Then I'm the one that you should all be calling
I'll do the job no matter what the crime

Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi: If there’s something really rotten to be done (To be done)
Then Cheatsy’s life becomes a worthwhile one (Worthwhile one)
That's Cheatsy's life!

Trivia

  • "Cheatsy's Life" and the "Kootie Pie Rap" are the only two songs from the Super Mario World television series to be sung by the characters, rather than the song playing in the background during a scene.
    • "Cheatsy's Life" and the "Kootie Pie Rap" are also the only two songs from the Super Mario World television series to not get instrumental versions in the Italian dub, likely because of the different structure they have compared to the rest of the songs in the show.
