Dark Link (also known as Shadow Link or Link's Shadow; in Japan, simply as Doppelgänger) is the evil counterpart of the hero of Hyrule, Link, similar to Shadow Mario. This shadowy being resembles Link exactly, except for the fact that Dark Link is completely black. Shadow Link is also a master swordsman, just like the original. Unlike other enemies featured in the Super Smash Bros. series, Dark Link does not have a trophy.
History
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Dark Link has appeared in Super Smash Bros. Melee as the opponent of Event Match 18: Link's Adventure. In the battle, the player controls a red-clad Link, who has two extra lives. The fighter must defeat Shadow Link, who also has two lives. The two swordsmen fought at the Temple, with no time limit.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Dark Link is one of Link's alternate costumes. This time, he takes his appearance from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess where he has more detail and red eyes. Dark Link still appears in an Event, where Link has to fight him once again. This time, they fight in a Stamina match on the Bridge of Eldin, and have 200 HP each. One of Toon Link's alternative costumes is a Dark Toon Link.
