Kirby Super Star is a Super Nintendo Entertainment System platformer game within the Kirby franchise, released in 1996 in Japan and North America and in 1997 in Europe and Australia. Like with most Kirby games, Kirby Super Star was developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo.

While not directly related to the Mario franchise aside from a few cameos, Kirby Super Star has served as a large inspiration behind the Super Smash Bros. series. For instance, one of the series' main bosses, Master Hand, uses moves similar to Wham Bam Rock from Kirby Super Star.

In 2008, the game received a Nintendo DS remake, Kirby Super Star Ultra. Since its release, Kirby Super Star has been ported to the Virtual Console for the Wii and Wii U and to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System - Nintendo Switch Online. In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Kirby Super Star is one of the playable Masterpieces.
