Latest appearance | Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008) |
The Motion-Sensor Bomb is an item used in the Super Smash Bros. series. Various versions of the item have appeared in the series, but they all function similarly. Once used, the bomb is set on the ground or another surface until someone gets close enough to it, causing it to explode.
In the first game, it was based on the Proximity Mine that appeared in Rare, Ltd.'s GoldenEye 007.
In the Japanese version Super Smash Bros. Melee and beta versions of the American localization, the Motion-Sensor Bomb is actually a Proximity Mine from Perfect Dark. However, in the final American version, it is still the Proximity Mine from Goldeneye 007. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the Motion Sensor Bomb is a unique design; Nintendo could no longer use the designs from Goldeneye 007 or Perfect Dark because they belong to Rare, Ltd., and the game was made after Rare was acquired by Microsoft. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, unlike in the previous games, the motion-sensor bomb can disappear in a set amount of time, hindering its effectiveness.

Motion-Sensor Bomb | File:BrawlTrophy513.png | GCN Super Smash Bros. Melee | An item that, when placed, will detonate when someone gets too close. It can be stuck on ceilings, walls, and floors. It doesn't matter who places this thing--it'll explode regardless of who passes by. Its explosive power is high, and it launches players with ease. It's small and lies almost flat on surfaces, so it can be very difficult to see. |

Trivia
- In GoldenEye 007, the Motion-Sensor Bomb did not have the green aura surrounding it when activated; this effect was added exclusively for Super Smash Bros. Melee.
